We are delighted to announce our official support for Cornwall Air Ambulance, a charity that provides critical emergency care across Cornwall.
At the beginning of the year, Jamie and Sam attended a Cornwall Air Ambulance charity event where they met some incredible people and had their eyes opened to the outstanding work this lifesaving service provides.
What surprised them most was the sheer amount of money required each year to keep the helicopters flying and the team operational.
From speaking with Tim the CEO and Karen and Julia from the Fundraising team, they learned that it costs £9 million every year to keep the Cornwall Air Ambulance running – and that this is funded entirely through charitable donations.
Working in the construction industry and raising children who seem naturally drawn to more dangerous sports, the air ambulance holds particular importance for them. With Cornwall’s isolated beaches, rural farms and sometimes challenging road networks, knowing this service is available can make all the difference.

When they realised that Cornwall Air Ambulance receives no government funding, they knew they wanted to help. They wanted to make ongoing contributions, so they decided to donate from every hire of one of their vacuum excavation units. To raise awareness at the same time, they chose to have the truck sign written in full Cornwall Air Ambulance livery — and that’s where the journey began.
From the very first conversation, Karen and Julia were incredibly welcoming and encouraging and meeting the wider team, including one of the pilots, only deepened the teams admiration. Their passion, commitment and relentless drive to keep this service operational is nothing short of inspiring.
